FLORIDA, June 16 – Annie Mae Spady Barker, 82, went to God Friday, March 18, 2011 in Boca Raton, FL. Born August 31, 1928 in Bridgetown and raised on the Eastern Shore, she graduated from North Hampton High School in 1946, then Ferrum Junior College in 1948. She moved to Richmond, married, started a family, and moved to Cumberland where she resided for over 30 years.

Mrs. Barker worked as a registrar at the Super 8 Motel in Chester for many years before moving to Boca Raton, FL in 2006.

She is survived by her children, Janice, Ralph, and Debby; daughter-in-law, Nancy; grandchildren, Damian, Dara, Pakuna, Daniel, Devin and Serena; great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Cameron, and sisters, Gladys, Maudie Bell and Alice Marie. She was preceded in death by her father, William T. Spady, mother, Maude Whitman Spady and brothers Sam, “Buck” and Jimmy Spady.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 3 at 1 p.m. at Johnson's United Methodist Church, Machipongo.
