Master Gardeners To Present Wildflower Lecture/Hike

The Heart of Virginia Master Gardeners is pleased to announce that Cynthia Wood will be presenting a Wildflower Lecture and Hike in May.

Cynthia Wood, a native of Prince Edward County, is a nature photographer and amateur naturalist who enjoys capturing the myriad of small worlds present in everyday life. As part of her ongoing photography and Master Gardener projects, she is currently using photography to document native plants at several local state parks and is building a web site for use by individuals interesting in learning more about local plants.

The Wildflower Lecture, entitled “Into the Woods: Virginia Native Plants” will be held on Friday evening, May 13, at the Prince Edward County Extension Office, located at 100 Dominion Road in Farmville (across from Lowe's and under the water tower) in the Natural Resources and Agricultural Building. This lecture is free and open to the public. Please come early as seating will be limited.

The Wildflower Hike will take place at Bear Creek Lake State Park in Cumberland County on Saturday, May 14, at 10:30 am. (meet at the park office). There is no fee for the hike; there is a $3 fee to park at Bear Creek Lake.

The Heart of Virginia Master Gardener Association is a non-profit organization, and a part of the Virginia Cooperative Extension. The association is comprised of volunteers dedicated to educating and serving the community in areas of horticulture.
