Knights Finish Second At Track Meet

The Buckingham County High School boys track team finished second in a tri-meet against Amelia and Randolph-Henry. The Knights tallied 57 points to finish behind Amelia (80) and ahead of Randolph-Henry (18).

Antonn Briley led the Knights with first-place finishes in the Long Jump and 110m High Hurdles. Kevin Bolden won in the Shot Put, while Kendal Randolph won the Triple Jump and Jamese Payne was victorious in the 1600m Run.

The 4×100 relay team of Maurice Taylor, Randolph, Kenneth Johnson and Harold Stanton also took first-place honors.

Buckingham finishes the regular-season at 7-2, and will host the James River District Field Events on Monday at 4:30 p.m. On Wednesday, the JRD will hold its Running Events at Goochland at 4:30 p.m.

Dukes, Falcons run at Central

The Cumberland and Fuqua track teams ran in a tri-meet at Central of Lunenburg on Wednesday afternoon. Central swept both the boys and girls meet, with the Chargers collecting 91 points in the boys meet. Cumberland finished second with 34 points, and Fuqua placed third with 19 points.

The Central girls tallied 88 points to finish first, while Cumberland edged Fuqua for second, scoring 29 points to Fuqua's 27.

Brandon Ah finished first in the 1600m Run and the 800m Run, while Cumberland's Devonte Booker took first place in the 110m High Hurdles, and Arthur Byrd finished first in the 300m Run.

Savannah McKee finished first in the 3200m Run, and Emmalee Klein finished first in the 200m Run. Fuqua's 4x100m Relay Team edged Cumberland by one second to claim first place in the short-distance team event. I-Mecka Anderson finished first for Cumberland in the 800m Run.
