BUCKINGHAM – Former U.S. Rep Virgil Goode (R-VA-5) has endorsed Brian Bates for Virginia Senate in the new 22nd district.

“Brian Bates, in my opinion, would make an excellent State Senator, and I enthusiastically endorse his candidacy. He has the energy and proven leadership to represent voters from Lynchburg through the Heartland to Goochland”, said Goode, who served more than two decades in the Virginia Senate before being elected to Congress, where he represented many of the counties in the new district.

“As you know, a most important factor in choosing who to support is determining which candidate best supports our ideals and values, and I believe when you examine Brian's record and platform you will find that he is pro-life, pro Second Amendment and against wasteful spending”, continued Goode on Wednesday. “As a supervisor, Brian has also been on the frontlines of promoting job growth in Virginia's Heartland, and in the Virginia Senate he will focus on bringing jobs to Central Virginia.”

A supervisor in his third term in Buckingham County, Bates “is credited with bringing the Bear Garden Energy Plant to Buckingham, along with hundreds of jobs to localities in the district,” states a Bates campaign press release.
