Madeline MacNeil played the hammered dulcimer at the home of Jane Guthrie in Farmville on Tuesday, May 10. MacNeil and Guthrie, classmates at Longwood College who graduated in 1962, were the only two music graduates that year. MacNeil was first introduced to the dulcimer while working at Shenandoah National Park in the 1970s. She stopped in Farmville to visit her college friend after playing for the Virginia Retired Teachers Association meeting in Blackstone. A number of friends and local musicians stopped by to enjoy the dulcimer music Tuesday.
