BURKEVILLE, April 7 – Shirley Jean Pigg, 68, of Burkeville, passed away at her residence Thursday, April 7, 2011. She was born in Mecklenburg County to the late Frances Moss and Herbert Cold King.

She is the wife of George (Buddy) Pigg of Burkeville, and is survived by a son, Michael W. Pigg and wife, Cheryl of Burkeville; a daughter, Pam Ostrander and husband, Matt of Burkeville; brother, Herbert King and wife, Shirley of Richmond; three grandchildren, Hannah, Michael and Brandi; fourteen nieces and nephews, Jerry King and Bobby King both of Victoria, Connie Hayes and Landon Hayes of South Hill, Stephen King of North Carolina, Cindy King of Kenbridge, Bonnie King of Richmond, Mary Fran Johnson of Meherrin, Diane Bell of Amelia, Terry Hall of Drakes Branch, Mark Kennedy of Rice, Billy Boettcher of Keysville, Karen Cooley of Charlotte, NC and Will Lewis from South Hill, and a special friend and caretaker, Sylvia Palmer. She was preceded in death by a sister Phyllis Hayes and brothers, Jerry and Clifton King.

A funeral service will be Saturday, April 9, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home with interment in Bagby Memorial Chapel Cemetery in Burkeville.

Family will receive friends Friday, April 8, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
