The Cumberland County Planning Commission will meet on Monday, May 16, 2011, at 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard, in Room C8 of the Cumberland County Community Center located at the corner of Anderson Highway (Route 60) and Forest View Road (Route 628) in Cumberland, Virginia, to conduct a public hearing pursuant to Virginia Code Section 15.2-2204, which such hearing may be continued or adjourned, as required under applicable law, and to consider the following item and taking actions in furtherance thereof:

Conditional Use Permit No. 11-02, National Communication Towers, LLC – A request in accordance with Sec. 74-143 of the Cumberland County zoning ordinance to grant a conditional use permit to allow for a “telecommunications tower and related facilities.” The Planning Commission will also review conditions for the proposed use. The telecommunications tower is proposed to be 250 feet in height. The request concerns the following property:

Tax Map 65-A3, Section A, Parcel 4A with respect to approximately 5.12 acres. The affected property is owned by the Cumberland County Industrial Development Authority and is adjacent to the Cumberland County Community Center. The affected property is currently zoned R-2, Rural Residential and A-2, Agricultural. The proposed tower would be on an approximately 125 foot by 125 foot lease area on the portion of the property with A-2 zoning. The parcel is not within a growth area as designated by the Comprehensive Plan. The affected property is located in Election District 3 would be accessed from a private 30-foot easement on the west side of Forest View Road (Route 628) approximately one quarter (1/4) mile north of the intersection of Anderson Highway (Route 60) and Forest View Road (Route 628).

Copies of the complete text of the above conditional use permit request, proposed conditions and associated plan are available for public review at the office of the Cumberland County Planning Department, County Administration Building, 1 Courthouse Circle, Cumberland, Virginia and may be inspected between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm of each business day. The public is invited to attend this hearing at which persons affected may appear and present their views.
