The Prince Edward County High School boys tennis team has gotten off to a solid start through four matches. The Eagles (3-1) started the 2011 campaign with a 6-3 victory over Randolph-Henry.

No. 1 seed Artiz Aldecoa, No. 3 Ryan Steward and No. 4 Asim Brooks won in singles competition, and the Eagles were able to sweep the doubles matches to claim the overall victory.

The No. 1 doubles team of Aldecoa/Keiston France defeated Dayton Dunnount and Graham Pugh 8-2. The No. 2 team of Brooks/Ryan Steward swept Xin Lin and Alan Berkeley 8-0, while seniors Matt Breckinridge and Brandon Toney won 8-4.

Prince Edward had a strong showing against Fluvanna in the Eagles' second match of the season. PE won all six singles matches to take a 6-0 lead heading into doubles play.

Aldecoa won 8-6 over Hohnnie Goldie at No. 1, while Brooks won 8-3 over Kyle Day.

No. 3 seed Ryan Steward took an 8-3 victory over Bredan Otten, while Keiston France defeated Caleb Blevins 8-3 at No. 4. No. 5 seed Brandon Toney won 8-6 over John Herrick, and No. 6 seed Matt Breckinridge completed the sweep with an 8-1 victory over Chance Chaney. In doubles the No. 1 seed team of France/Aldecoa were defeated 6-8, but the No. 2 team of Steward/Brooks won 8-4, and No. 3 Breckinridge/Toney won 8-3 to take the 8-1 decision.

Randolph-Henry exacted some revenge in a rematch of the season-opener. Dunnavent avenged a loss in the opener by defeating Aldecoa 8-6 in the opening game at No. 1. Brooks defeated Pugh 8-5 at No. 2, and Steward won his match at No. 3 in a tiebreaker 9-8 (7-5).

No. 4 France won easily against Alan Berkeley by the score of 8-1. Dunnavant No. 5 defeated Matt Breckinridge 8-3, and Brandon Toney was defeated by Luke Balmer 4-8.

The score tied at 3-3 after singles competition. The lone winners in doubles were the undefeated team of Brooks/Steward at No. 2. Prince Edward lost the final two doubles matches and was defeated by the score of 4-5. In exhibition matches Whitaker Reed, West Bogese and Adeeb Stwobah were all victorious.

Prince Edward played its third match against Randolph-Henry, and after another close match was able to pull out the overall victory.

Dunnavant defeated PE's Aldecoa once again at No. 1, but Brooks remained undefeated on the season with a victory at No. 2 over Puth (8-3). France, who moved up to No. 3 faired well in his match over Tuck, and Seward at No. 4 shut out Balmer 8-0.

No. 5 Breckenridge and No. 6 Toney were defeated in singles competition tying the match at 3-3 going into doubles.

France/Aldecoa managed a strong comeback at the No. 1 doubles position by taking a 7-6 lead but the duo lost in a tie breaker (2-7). The No. 2 team of Steward/Brooks defeated Tuck/Dunnavant 8-0. The match came down to the No. 3 doubles team of Breckinridge/Toney, which managed to edge Lin/Royester 8-6 to secure the one-point victory.
