SCOPE/Meals On Wheels would like to recognize the many Longwood University students who have volunteered or helped raise funds for SCOPE/Meals On Wheels in the current school year (2010-2011).

Of course, Longwood students have helped most every non-profit in Prince Edward County in one way or another. This kind of help, caring for your community, is what the world needs more of these days.

Starting with the many students who have delivered meals to clients since September, we thank in particular the Delta Zeta and Alpha Sigma Alpha sororities for helping us the whole year. Delta Zeta members have driven two days a week for most of the fall and winter/spring semesters. In addition to driving, ASA made Valentine goodies and cards for all our clients. Many other students also delivered meals.

Alpha Phi Omega held a special night for us at Chick-fil-A in the fall. The C.H.A.N.G.E. student group from Dr. Bill Stuart's Organizational Communication Class held a dessert competition for us in this month, raising funds. These students also inspired Davis GMC to make donations to us for each new vehicle sold in the month of April.

We have also benefited from the help of interns from Longwood in the fall and spring. In fact, so many LU students have helped us in one way or another, that we may have omitted mentioning an event or fund raiser. If so, we apologize.

It is inspiring to receive the aid of young men and women who are perhaps looking to future careers with service and non-profit organizations. We wish them well.

It takes community support to operate a Meals On Wheels program, and Longwood students are a key component in that support.
