Hugo Womack, Sr.

APRIL 26 – Stanhope Hugo Womack Sr. accepted God's call on the morning of Friday, April 15, 2011. He was born to Bert Spencer Womack and Lillie Beatrice Booker Womack of Darlington Heights.
Mr. Womack received his education in the Darlington Heights School and later went into the army. After returning from the Army he attended night classes in agriculture.
He was married to the late Inez Temple Wesley Womack and to this union three children were born. He joined the Triumph Baptist Church at an early age and continued serving until his health began to decline him from attending each Sunday. He also loved picture taking, loved listening to gospel music, and he loved to joke and tease.
Mr. Womack leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Barbara and Beatrice (Bea); two sons-in-law, Robert Barnes and Maurice Finney; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte H. Womack; two grandchildren, Tracy and Jon; two great-grandchildren, Tiara and Michael DeBeary; two sisters, Mildred Patterson and Ernestine Hamilton; two sisters-in-law, Josephine B. Womack and Maddie W. Wilks, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bert; mother, Lillie Beatrice; wife, Inez Temple Womack; son, S. Hugo Womack, Jr.; brothers, Bert, General Taylor and William (Sonny) and sister, Elizabeth (Kitty).
A funeral service was held at Triumph Baptist Church, Darlington Heights, on April 19 with the Rev. James Spencer officiating, and the Rev. James W. Morris, pastor and eulogist.
Bruce & Stiff Funeral Home, Appomattox, was in charge of arrangements.
