Editor, The Herald:

On behalf of the Buckingham County 250th Anniversary Committee, I'd like to thank all those involved in the success of our birthday party at the Courthouse on April 2nd. Over 350 people listened to the music of The Buckingham Community Choir, the Central Virginia Christian School chorus, the Ft. Lee 392nd Army Brass Quintet and the beautiful national anthem sung by Melody Parson Day. Re-enactors Patrick Henry, Peter Francisco and Williams Smothers brought to our attention the role Buckingham County played in the path to independence. Other local re-enactors added authenticity and color to the day. Congressman Robert Hurt and State Senator Frank Ruff had kind words for this 250-year-old county and its people.

Much planning goes into an event of this magnitude and many volunteer-hours are needed to pull it off. The Committee would like to thank the Buckingham Sheriff's Dept., BSA 6535, the Buckingham Woman's Club, Special Touch Design Florist, the Buckingham Community Choir, CVCS chorus, Maysville Manor and Event Center, Tom Mix Ranger, JROTC , Ft. Lee 392nd Army Brass Quintet, Cape Printing, Melody Parson Day, Vicki and Harlan Williams, Buckingham County Maintenance Staff and Jamie Shumaker.
