Mr. and Mrs. Danny A. Slayton, of Farmville, and Raymond L. Lester, of Travelers Rest, SC, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Nichole Lester, to John Thomas “J.T.” Grant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Grant, of Rice.

Heather is the granddaughter of Mrs. Frances D. Slayton and the late Bernard Slayton, of Pamplin, and Thurman C. Lester and the late Madeline C. Lester, of Meherrin.

J.T. is the grandson of Mrs. Joyce Grant and the late Homer Grant, of Farmville, and Dr. James B. Wilson, DVM and the late Jean Wilson, of Rice.

The couple is planning a June 4 wedding in Rice.
