The Farmville Lions Club thanks the community for supporting our Lions Recycle for Sight used eyeglasses collection program. Throughout last year, we collected over 1,400 pairs of unwanted eyeglasses and sunglasses from the Farmville community and surrounding areas.

The donated eyeglasses are delivered to Virginia Lions Eyeglass Recycling Inc. headquartered in Roanoke where they are cleaned, sorted by prescription, and prepared for distribution. The distribution to needy people in developing countries is performed by Lions and many different organizations hosting optical missions.

The following businesses contributed to the project's success by serving as convenient eyeglass collection centers: Puckett Funeral Home, Dr. D. Kingsley's Office, Dr. C. Wilson's Office, Jill Dickerson's Office, Benchmark Community Bank, Honeycutt & McGuire (CPA), Centra Southside Community Hospital, Ray A. Moore Jr. Rehabilitation Center, Longwood Center for Communications – Literacy & Learning (LCCLL), Farmville and Prince Edward Community Library, Shorter Funeral Home, Dr. S. Martin's Office, Southside Optical Center, BB&T Bank, Farmville Vision Center, Dr. J. McClellan's Office, Wal-Mart Vision Center, Lib's Place (Rice), Benjamin H. Johnson (CPA), Social Security Administration, Farmville United Methodist Church, Southside Virginia Family YMCA.

The Farmville Lions Club will hold their annual White Cane Days on Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2, in various locations in Farmville.
