Albert H. Morris, 84

DELTAVILLE, March 15 – The Lord called Albert Hale Morris, 84, of Deltaville, home on Thursday, March 10, 2011. He was born January 30, 1927 in Darlington Heights, the son of Lawrence Edward Morris and Elizabeth Bailey Morris.

Mr. Morris was a WWII veteran and served in Germany. His career began as a station agent with Norfolk and Western Railroad; shipping department manager for Appomattox Garment Company; and owned Dixie Blend service station in Appomattox. He was also co-owner in a chain of outlet stores. After retirement to Deltaville, he and his devoted wife of many years were instrumental in the procurement of a location for the Sunday Beach Services of Zoar Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sister, Martha “Dolly” Childress and husband, Clinton of Darlington Heights; nieces, Betty Tinsley and husband, Dallas of Darlington Heights, and Lynn Starcher and husband, Ron of Royersford, PA; nephews, Rodger Childress and wife, Laura of Darlington Heights, Mike Morris and wife, Charlotte of Gilbertsville, PA, and Greg Waddell and wife, Debbie of Lynchburg; and a brother-in-law, Fred Waddell and wife, Kate of Forest. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce Waddell Morris, and brothers, Charles Edward Morris and William Rodger Morris.

Services were conducted at Spring Creek Baptist Church, Darlington Heights, on Sunday, March 13. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home, Farmville, was in charge of arrangements.
