CULLEN, Feb. 15 – Karen Lee Mills, 63, of Cullen and Alexandria passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at her daughter's home in Cullen.
Born in Alexandria, March 10, 1947 she was a graduate of T. C. Williams High School, Northern Virginia Community College and J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. She was a Respiratory Therapist and was also employed with Walmart in Spottsylvania.
As an avid gardener she loved raising flowers and feeding her birds. She was also a big fan of Harry Potter movies and was known for her deep desire to help everyone. She especially loved her mother and her grandchildren.
In addition to her mother, Loretta Bernice Keys Creed of Alexandria, she is survived by a daughter, Denise Anne Russell and husband, John of Cullen; son, Charles Richard Turner of Fredericksburg; grandchildren, Cory and Victoria Russell and Michael and Gwendolyn Lawrence; her former husband, Edwin Lee Turner; brother-in-law, Steve Underwood, cousin, Robert Smith and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Allen W. Mills, sister, Gwen Underwood and stepfather, George Creed.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, March 10, in the chapel of Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
