Farmville Rotary Club Offers Scholarships

The Farmville Rotary Club is accepting applications for the Vernon Carter Womack Service Above Self Scholarship. The scholarship carries a one-time $1000 award to be used at any institution of higher learning. Any high school senior living or attending school in the Farmville area is welcome to apply.
The scholarship recipient will be chosen based on qualities important to Rotary, including service to the community, service to the school, leadership, international interest, and academic excellence. Applicants do not need to have experience in every area.
An application form is available at the Farmville Rotary website, farmvillerotary.org. Applications must be mailed by March 31.

Vernon Carter Womack, long-time Commissioner of Revenue and later Clerk of the Court for Prince Edward County, joined the Farmville Rotary Club in 1938 and ably exemplified Rotary's motto, “Service Above Self.” This scholarship seeks to carry on his legacy.
