Composite Bats In Dixie Youth Baseball Legal Again

In a reversal of new policy, the Dixie Youth Baseball board of directors announced late last week that it is rescinding its moratorium on graphite composite bats for the 2011 season.
Two weeks ago, the DYB Board chose to follow the lead of other youth baseball organizations in banning the bats for the upcoming season while further studies were done on the increased velocity of baseballs coming off the bat of broken-in composite bats.
On the league's website, Dixie Youth Baseball has mandated that all bats must be stamped “Approved for play in Dixie Youth” and meet the requirement of Rule 1.10 in the 2011 Dixie Youth Baseball Rule Book.
The league had come under criticism by parents after it placed the moratorium on the graphite composite bats so close to the season, and after the Christmas holiday.
