PROSPECT, Dec. 16 – Ernest Edward Campbell Sr., 81, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness, on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at his home in Prospect. He was born June 14, 1929 in Prospect. He was the son of the late Crawley Clarke and Mary Marguerite Allen Campbell of Prospect.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and retired from Virginia Electric Power Company. Prior to his illness he was an active member of Prospect United Methodist Church where he served as a Lay Leader, Sunday school teacher and Administrative Board member.

Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Brisentine Campbell; two sons, Eddie Campbell and wife, Robbin of Stafford and Watt Campbell of Prospect; two daughters Jane Campbell Lowe and husband, Jim of Lynchburg and Lynn Campbell Tougas and husband, Scott of Chesterfield; eleven grandchildren, Branden Campbell and wife, Brooke, Becky Campbell Maynard and husband, Jeff, Frank Campbell and wife, April, Chris Campbell, Cole Campbell, Max Campbell, Chas Lowe, Campbell Lowe, Cate Lowe, Rachel Tougas and Jacob Tougas and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam, Henry, Jack, Robert (Mutt) and Frank Campbell and sister, Marguerite (Tee) Kreye.

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 17, at 1 p.m. at Prospect United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday from 12-1 p.m. at the church.
