November 18 – “What you have outside counts less than what you have inside.”

The Prospect Volunteer Fire Department will be serving lunch each Saturday now through Jan. 1 (with the exception of Christmas Day) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the hunters. The menu will include beans, cornbread, hot dogs and bologna burgers.

The Prospect Community Thanksgiving service will be held at the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church on Wednesday Nov. 24, at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend this service.

The Prospect Happy Hats, Jeannette Tarlton, Betty Meadows and Margaret Stockton, embarked on the “Red Hat Express” Friday morning bound for Ashville, NC, and the Biltmore Estate. After a fun filled two days, they returned home on Saturday night. The house and grounds were beautifully decorated for Christmas. The Prospect Happy Hats were joined by members of other Red Hat Clubs; Joyce Ingle, Jane Spence, Joyce Elsaesser and Bonnie Bailey plus 23 others. The dinner at the Deerpark Inn was out of this world to be followed by a Candlelight Visit through the house was something to behold.

Mr. and Mrs. John (Shirley) Fulcher visited the Biltmore House on Friday and Saturday with the Prospect Happy Hats. Others on this journey were Jean Derrenbacker, Nancy Snow, Mr. and Mrs. Buck Jamison, all of Richmond, Richard Stockton, Harold Higgins, Wanda Nash, Mr. and Mrs. Bill (Sue) Amos, Lynwood Davis, Betty McCormick, Bonnie Oswald, Alice Throckmorton, Terry Shelton, Carol Schall, Rhonda Rowland, Millie Grenouillou, Bonnie Sheeler, and Nancy Reamer.

Mr. and Mrs. John Fulcher attended the production of “Aladdin” at Randolph-Henry High School on Sunday afternoon; their granddaughter, Emily was a dragon in the production.

Mrs. Flora Bolt visited Mrs. Edna Woodson on Sunday afternoon; also visiting was Edna's husband William.

Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the Veterans Day program at the Woodlands. The Veterans of Foreign Wars presented a lovely program for Veterans Day and presented everyone present with an American flag.

Mrs. Flora Bolt visited Ruth Southall and Wilford Hedrick last Thursday. Mrs. Bolt later took Wilford Hedrick to Country Cookin' for a Veterans Day dinner.

Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the UDC meeting last Wednesday at the Farmville/Prince Edward Library.

Family, friends and neighbors are sending special get well wishes to all those who are sick at this time. Special prayers are needed for Ray Kelsey, Mary Lula Allen and Mary Overton.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the families of Coley Fulcher and William VanLenten.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Willie Thompson will fill the pulpit this Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30am. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Rd in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
