November 11 – “Love is a hammer that will break the hardest heart.”

November 11 is Veterans Day; please thank all the veterans you meet today or any day for their service to you and your family. Also thank the families of those veterans who gave their life for your protection.

Mr. and Mrs. John (Shirley) Fulcher visited Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Evelyn) Shelton last Friday night following Evelyn's knee replacement surgery.

Mrs. Nancy Mottley is recovering from knee replacement surgery.

Mr. and Mrs. Don (Betty) Meadows visited Mrs. Eloise Tucker at the Woodlands last Sunday morning. Later in the afternoon they attended the annual Brunswick stew at the Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward (Judy) Mottley, along with Mr. and Mrs. John (Shirley) Fulcher, visited Mrs. Nancy Mottley in Appomattox as she recoveries from her knee surgery. They later had dinner at Granny Bee's.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray (Betty) Noblin traveled to Gloucester where they attended the funeral of his sister, Emma Woodson.

Mr. and Mrs. John (Lois) Gager traveled to Henderson, KY, where they visited his family, on the way home they spent the night in Pigeon Forge.

Mrs. Frances Southall is visiting her first cousin, Novella Thomas in Kinston, NC.

Ray Kelsey is still a resident at the Woodlands. He enjoys having visitors especially from his local grandchildren, Debra Sue Shumaker, Darrell Shumaker and Celena Kelsey, also, his great grandson, Bryson Philander Kelsey, of Chesterfield.

The annual Brunswick stew – fun – food- fellowship was held Sunday afternoon at the Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle. Stew-Masters Steve Bolt and William McGuire arrived at the church around 6 a.m. to prepare the stew. There was a good turnout of about 50 people.

Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the meeting on Friday at the Farmville/Prince Edward Library to help scan old documents of things around the Civil War. Others attending were Dale Bolt, president of the Farmville/Prince Edward Historical Society, and Deborah Lundeen, president of the UDC. It was enlightening to hold old papers that had been saved by families for over 200 years. Personal papers and documents were gone through gleaming important family items pertaining to the Civil War was an experience. These items and many more from across Virginia will be on display during the 2011 to 2015 celebration.

Mrs. Flora Bolt met Nov. 3 at Shoney's with some of the local Farmville High School classmates from the graduating classes of 1947, 1948 and 1949 as they start to plan their classes' reunion next year. Flora was elected chairman; the next meeting with lunch will be December 1 at Shoney's.
Family, friends and neighbors are sending special get well wishes to all those who are sick at this time. Special prayers are needed Pee Wee Overton, Evelyn Shelton, Nancy Mottley, Coley Fulcher, Ray Kelsey, Mary Lula Allen and Mary Overton.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the families of the Rev. John Rice and Emma Woodson.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11a.m. Jeremy Harris will be with them this Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. William “Bill” Clark will fill the pulpit this Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Rd in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.

Happy Birthday is wished to all those with November birthdays. Your flower is the Chrysanthemum and your birthstone is the Topaz.
