The Prince Edward United Way Kick-Off was held on the Courthouse steps Sept. 15. Participating in the annual event were the Farmville Girl Scout Service Unit, Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity, Inc. (Jayne Johnson), Prince Edward County 4-H (Jennifer Bowen), Prince Edward Farmville Youth Association, Inc. (Bruce Davis), Virginia Legal Aid Society (Pam DeCamp), SCOPE/Meals on Wheels (Carolyn Spillman), and the Pregnancy Support Center (Pam Gill and Gretna Jackson). Nineteen groups will receive funds from the 2010-2011 fundraising campaign. United Way feeds the hungry, assists the elderly, and educates youth.
