CUMBERLAND, Sept. 30 – Sallie Virginia Hatcher, 79 of Cumberland, departed this life on Saturday, September 25, 2010 in Richmond. She was employed with Cumberland County School System for 36 years.

She is survived by a son, Charles Archer Hatcher (Velma); two daughters, Elsie Marie Hatcher and Barbara Annette Hatcher; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; an aunt, Bertha Gray (Alfred); nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her remains rest at Marian Gray Thomas Funeral Home of Cumberland where viewing will be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Powhatan County High School auditorium where her remains will lie in state two hours prior to the service. Dr. Gregory L. Beechaum Sr., pastor, will officiate, and the Rev. Stevie Trent will be the eulogist. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Cumberland.
