The Cumberland County Planning Commission will meet on Monday, September 20, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard, in the Circuit Courtroom at the Cumberland Courthouse in Cumberland, Virginia, to conduct a public hearing pursuant to Virginia Code Section 15.2-2204, which such hearing may be continued or adjourned, as required under applicable law, and to consider the following item and taking actions in furtherance thereof:
Code Amendment 10-09- Proposed Amendment to the Code of Cumberland County: The Cumberland County Planning Commission proposes to recommend to the Board of Supervisors an amendment to the County Code entitled “An ordinance amending Chapter 74 of the Cumberland County Code amending Section 74-2. Definitions. regarding various zoning definitions.” The proposed amendment amends or adds definitions for the following terms: Animal boarding place, Household pet, Kennel, Kennel, private, Kennel, commercial and Veterinary hospital. The proposed amendment would also amend the sections of the zoning ordinance pertaining to uses for such defined terms and where they shall be a permitted use or a conditional use in Agricultural A-2, Agricultural, A-20, Recreational Access, RA-1, Business, B-1, Business B-2, Business B-3, Industrial M-1, and Industrial M-2 zoning districts.
The public purpose of the proposed amendments is to address ordinance provisions regarding the above defined uses and in what zoning districts such facilities shall be a permitted use or a conditional use. So that the spirit of the zoning ordinance is achieved, the proposed ordinance provisions would provide greater clarity to certain animal confinement uses permitted in Cumberland County.
Copies of the complete text of the above proposed ordinance, resolution and associated documents are available for public review at the office of the Cumberland County Planning Department, County Administration Building, 1 Courthouse Circle, Cumberland, Virginia between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm of each business day.
