PUBLIC HEARING

The Cumberland County Planning Commission will meet on Monday, September 20, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard, in the Community Center Building, Pod C, Room 8 (Note: This is a change in location from the previously advertisement) in Cumberland, Virginia, to conduct a public hearing pursuant to Virginia Code Section 15.2-2204, which such hearing may be continued or adjourned, as required under applicable law, and to consider the following item and taking actions in furtherance thereof:

Rezoning No. 10-01, Gary C. & Phyllis M. Groneweg – A request to rezone the following property from A-2, Agricultural and R-2, Rural Residential to B-1, Business and amend the Cumberland County Zoning Map accordingly:

Tax Map 65, Insert A3, Section A, Parcel 54 with respect to 2.603 acres. The affected property is located in Election District 3 on east side of Rt. 45 (Cumberland Road) at its intersection with Rt. 727 (Hillcrest Road) approximately 500 feet south of the Rt. 45 and Rt. 60 (Anderson Highway) intersection. The general usage of the proposed rezoned property is commercial. The affected property is not within a growth area as designated by the Comprehensive Plan. The general usage of the proposed rezoned property is rural residential. The current usage set forth in the land use section of the Comprehensive Plan shall be limited commercial with uses that prohibit extensive and large-scale agricultural, industrial and commercial activities as desired in areas outside of growth areas as designated by the Comprehensive Plan.

Copies of the complete text of the above rezoning request and associated plan are available for public review at the office of the Cumberland County Planning Department, County Administration Building, 1 Courthouse Circle, Cumberland, Virginia between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm of each business day.
