CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Sept. 7 – Alice B. Carneal, 62, of Cumberland County, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 4, 2010. She was predeceased by her parents, Phillip and Gladys Binford Sr., and a brother, Phillip Binford Jr.
She was a dedicated member of New Life Assembly of God in Farmville and devoted her life to the staff and students of New Life Christian Academy as secretary and “Mom”.
Mrs. Carneal felt her calling was to help with the youth get a firm foundation with God and that by doing so their lives would be enriched. She accomplished this by encouraging everyone she met to know the Lord as she did, and by participating in the New Life Youth Center and many youth mission trips here in the US and abroad. She strongly believed that the youth was “Our Church of Tomorrow”.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Carneal, and her four children, Christopher and Amanda Carneal of the home, Timmy Greve (Brenda) of Tennessee, and Sandi Robinson (Michael) of Caroline County; brother, Freddie L. Binford (Ann) of Poquoson; sisters, Phylis Kelley (Larry) and Cheryl Binford both of GA; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed the simple things in life and was loved and will be missed by many.
Viewing will be held Tuesday (tonight), Sept. 7, from 6 to 8 at Puckett Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. at New Life Assembly of God, with interment at Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery in South Hill at 4 p.m.
In loving memory of Alice, contributions may be made to New Life Christian Academy.
Puckett Funeral Home, Farmville, is in charge of arrangements.
