Willie M. Harris, 77 Retired Trucker Dies Thursday

DILLWYN, Jan. 13 – Willie M. Harris died Thursday, January 8, 2004 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Dillwyn.

He was born March 10, 1926 to the late Frances Allen Felida. His wife, the late Gertrude W. Harris, preceded him in death after 52 years of marriage.

Mr. Harris drove in the trucking business for G. M. Davis for over 50 years and was well known as “Wild Bill”.

He is survived by five daughters, Mary F. Childress (Franklin), Dora M. Harris and Patricia A. Banks (Wayne) all of Dillwyn, Ernestine Anderson of Scottsvllle and Gertrude E. Clarke (Michael) of Richmond; four sons, Leslie M. Harris of Connecticut, Willie J. Harris of Dillwyn, Samuel Harris (Grade) of Cumberland and Curtis L. Harris of Richmond; 23 grandchildren; three great grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.

A funeral service was held 2 p.m. Sunday at Baptist Union Baptist Church, Dillwyn, with Interment in the church cemetery.

Thomasson's Funeral Home, Fork Union, was in charge of arrangements.
