MEHERRIN, June 12 – Walter Harold Jacobs, 79, of Meherrin passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in Lynchburg. He was born September 18, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio. He was the husband of Rose A. Jacobs.

Mr. Jacobs was retired from the U.S. Navy. He then worked many years with the McDonalds Corporation and with Office America. He was also a member of the U.S. Navy Fleet Reserve.

He is survived by his wife, Rose A. Jacobs; son, William L. Jacobs and wife, Linda of Montross; daughters, Claudette Ullmann of Okeechobee, Florida and Beverly Campbell and husband, Thomas of Glen Ellen, California; sister, Elberta Hofer of Bradenton, Florida; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Donald Jacobs.

A funeral service will be held Monday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia.

Family will receive friends Sunday 2-6 p.m. at the Puckett Funeral Home.
