Vanessa P. Harris,83 Of Farmville Dies October 1

OCTOBER 7 – Mrs. Vanessa Perkins Harris, 83, of Farmville passed away Wednesday evening, in Charlottesville. She was born May 15, 1925 in Prince Edward County, the daughter of the late George Perkins Sr. and Pearl Jones Perkins. She was the wife of John Harris.

She is survived by her husband, John Harris of Farmville; daughters, Kathy Tassell and husband, Richard of Charlottesville and Gayle Hott and husband, Hoye of Gordonsville; brothers and sisters, George Perkins of Farmville, Lawrence Perkins of the Norfolk area, Gladys Collins and husband, Thomas of Independence and Edith Hickman of Prospect; eight grandchildren, Paul Tassell, Dana Crickenberger, Ryan Hott, Jennifer Green, Stuart Lewis, Christopher Clark, Damien and Jacob Stokes and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Vanessa Harris Stokes and grandson, Patrick Tassell.

A funeral service was held Saturday, October 4, at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville with interment in Westview Cemetery.
