AUGUST 31 – Sally Falls Whitehead, 82, formerly of Darlington Heights, died Sunday, August 29, 2004 in Virginia Beach.

She was born July 19, 1922 In Roanoke, a daughter of the late Lewis Allen and Nora Moynihan Falls. She was the widow of Courtney M. Whitehead.

Mrs. Whitehead was a retired fifth grade teacher at Cape Hatteras School in Buxton, NC.

She is survived by her children, Mary Kay Whitehead of Virginia, Corky Whitehead and his wife, Maria of Buxton, NC, Hugh Allen Whitehead and his wife, Silvea of Wellsburg, WV, Sara Whitehead Bergloff and her husband, Steve of Pamplin and Lucinda Whitehead of Pamplin;11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Burks Falls.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Spring Creek Baptist Church, Darlington Heights, with interment in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends this evening (Tuesday) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville.
