Ruth Oliver Hudson, 90 Held 2 P.M. Thursday

STAUNTON – Aug. 13 – Ruth McRoy (Oliver) Hudson, 90, widow of Herman Edward Hudson, of Staunton, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009 in Augusta Health, Fishersville. She was born September 16, 1918 in Prospect, a daughter of the late Otto McRoy and Bessie (Mann) Oliver.

Prior to retirement, Mrs. Hudson was employed by Belk. She was an avid traveler.

In addition to her husband, who preceded her in death on September 11, 1985, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Wallace Oliver and Robert Edward “Pete” Oliver; and a sister, Margaret Wilson.

Family members include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ronald E. and Doris Hudson, Marvin L. and Angie Hudson, and Scott A. Hudson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca H. and Paul L. Abbe and Carol H. and Bradley Houff; two sisters, Frances Easter and Mildred Robertson; and nine grandchildren, Gregory Lynn Hudson, Leslie Edward Hudson, Josef Kurt Hudson, Jason Edward Hudson, Joshua Bennett Houff, Erin Elaine Houff, Travis Scott Hudson, Dylan Todd Hudson, and Zachary Austin Hudson; and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 13, in Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. Harold W. “Pete” Campbell.

The family received friends Wednesday evening, August 12, in the Henry Funeral Home.
