JANUARY 22 – Ruby Wilkerson Covington, 84, of Farmville, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009 in Farmville. She was the widow of Herbert W. Covington.

Born in Farmville, February 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Eames and Ellie Amanda Walden Wilkerson.

She is survived by two sons, Wayne Covington and wife, Carolyn of Quincy, FL, and Gary Covington and wife, Joan of Mt. Ulla, NC; three grandchildren, Wendy Covington, Jason Covington, and Andrew Covington; two great-grandchildren, Julian Piccone and Zachary Cohen; two sisters, Jessie Allen and husband, Earl and Catherine Page and husband, Al; four sisters-in-law, Irene Spurlock, Inez Twoyzyolo, Mabel Wilkerson and Elizabeth Covington; two brothers-in-law, Walter Twoyzyolo and Melvin Stanley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Thursday in the chapel of Shorter Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Conwell officiating. Interment followed in Westview Cemetery.

Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville, was in charge of arrangements.
