Royal Drinkard, Jr., 72 Of Charlotte CH Dies October 10

CHARLOTTE CH, Oct. 13 – Royal Lee Drinkard Jr. (Under dog), 72, of Charlotte Court House, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Britthaven Nursing Home. He was a long distance trucker for 40 years and loved his job very much. He was the son of the late Royal L. and Bessie Drinkard Sr.

Mr. Drinkard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Hudson Drinkard; three daughters, Donna Drinkard Green (William) of Phenix, Elizabeth Drinkard Hall of Virginia Beach and Sherrill Drinkard Pugh (Eddie) of Charlotte CH; two sons, Royal Lee Drinkard III of the home and William Edgar Drinkard (Regina) of Colonial Heights; 11 grandchildren, Scott, Rick, and Mitchell Hall, Jessica Harmon Duffey, Joey Pugh, Thomas and Ryan Hamlet, William E. Green III (Trip), Andy, Megan, and Royal Lee Drinkard IV, and Jennifer Lynn Drinkard; one he thought of as a son, Justin Young of Northern; a great-grandson, Jason Lewis Duffey Jr. who called him Juice; three sisters, Thelma Drinkard Armes of Burkeville, Margaret Drinkard Tilley (Joe) of Blackstone, Nancy Drinkard Dixon (Thomas) of Amelia; two brothers, George Drinkard (Betty Lou) of Burkeville and Jerry Edward Drinkard (Joann) of Myrtle Beach, SC. He was preceded in death by three half sisters, Ruth, Ethel and Louise and a brother, Jimmy.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home with interment in the Southall Memorial Methodist Church Cemetery in Saxe. The Rev. Woodfin of Keysville officiated the service.
