OCTOBER 2 – Roy D. Hamilton Sr., beloved father and friend, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at age 73, surrounded by his loving family. The son of Edwin P. Hamilton and Ressie Fitzgerald Hamilton, Roy was born near Vesuvius.

Roy was respected by his friends for his loyalty and generosity, and considered an asset by his co-workers for his innovation and hard work. One of his greatest accomplishments was his 40+ year career with Solite Corporation.

An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and simply spending time outdoors tending his yard and garden.

Roy is survived by his daughters, Debby Jamerson and husband, Hank, Patty Dunkum and Lisa Hamilton; a son, David Hamilton and wife, Brandi; grandsons, Matthew Dunkum and Jeff Smith III; siblings, George, Alfred, Mack, Tom, Mary, Nellie, Edna and Ruby. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50+ years, Betty Hamilton.

A memorial service will be held at Dunkum Funeral Home on Saturday, October 4, at 11 a.m.

Family will receive friends on Friday, October 3, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests that do-nations be made to local Emergency Medical Services or The American Cancer Society.
