Patricia “Pat” Motley, 72 Of Keysville

KEYSVILLE, Sept. 17 – Patricia K. “Pat” Motley, 72, of Keysville, passed away Monday, September 14, 2009 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville. She was the wife of the late Richard Dewey Motley.

Born November 5, 1936 in Osprey, Fla., Mrs. Motley was the daughter of the late Harold W. and Earldine Thompson Murphy. She was a professional typesetter with Longwood College and was retired as the Administrative Secretary to the President of South Florida Community College. She had also performed as a synchronized swimmer at Cypress Gar-dens in Winter Haven, Fla.

She dearly loved her church, Pisgah Baptist Church in Rice, where she served over the years as church secretary, Sunday school teacher, youth leader/director and choir member.

Mrs. Motley is survived by her daughter, Penny C. Motley Martin and husband, Charlie of Chesapeake; sister, Carol Shumard of Lake Placid, Fla.; sister-in-law, Eunice Motley Hamlett of Charlottesville; cousin, Gary Mays and wife, Jolene of Palmetto, Fla.; her “Forever Friend”, Mona Lou Lewis and special friends, Marilyn L. and George Davis, Judy and Ray Wooten and Phil and Peggy Templin; a host of other friends and her loving church family.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, in Pisgah Baptist Church, Rice with the Rev. Earl Wallace officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
