NEW CANTON, Aug. 25 – Mary E. Jones, 100, of New Canton, widow of Roy B. Jones, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the Envoy in Fork Union.

Born December 2, 1908 in Buckingham County, she was a daughter of the late John William and Comma Warsing Harding. She was also preceded in death by a son, Franklin Jones.

Survivors include a daughter, Eleanor Green of Tucker, GA; four sons, Truman Jones and Montel Jones of Richmond, Leroy Jones and Melvin (Johnny) Jones of New Canton; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Arvon Baptist Church, Rt. 15, New Canton. Interment will be at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, New Canton. The family will meet with friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Arvon Baptist Church or Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery Trust Fund.
