BUCKINGHAM, Aug. 4 – Martha Spencer Self, 84, of Buckingham, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2009. Born on September 27, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Jackson (Jack) and Nancy Gilliam Spencer.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Sherman S. Self.

Mrs. Self worked in the Buckingham County Commissioner's Office for nearly 40 years, retiring in December, 1984, a Commissioner of Revenue.

She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Scottsville, where graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, at 11 a.m.

Her remains rest at Dunkum Funeral Home.
