BURKEVILLE, Aug. 10, Marie L. Elliott Thorton, 87, of Burkeville, died Saturday, August 7, 2004 at the Amelia Nursing Center following several months of declining health.

She was born April 28, 1917 In Prince Edward County, the daughter of the late Charles Leonard and Mary Adams Elliott. She was predeceased by her husband, James Edward Thorton and her brothers, Leonard Adams Elliott and Henry Herbert Elliott.

Funeral services were held today (Tuesday) at Bagby Memorial Baptist Church with interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Burkeville, with the Rev. J. Clyde Shelton officiating.
