DECEMBER 2 – John Mell Estes died on Sunday, November 30, 2008 in Farmville. He was born June 26, 1921, in Rice, a son of the late Essie and Laura Carr Estes.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine H. Estes; a daughter, Janet G. Estes, both of Farmville; two brothers, Ralph C. Estes and Gordon Estes, both of Rice.

Mr. Estes was the owner of Appomattox Service Station and was a farmer.

Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday (today) at Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Rice.

Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home, Farmville, was in charge of arrangements.
