DILLWYN, Sept. 29 – John Milton Herron, of Dillwyn, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2009 in his home. He was the husband of Sharon D. Herron.

Born in Norfolk, June 15, 1948, he was the son of the late Eugene G. and Eva M. Herron. He was a retired US Navy veteran and a retired prison guard with the Illinois State Prison System.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Ralph Herron and wife, Carmen of Raleigh, NC and Danny Herron and wife, Linda of Chesapeake; three nieces, one nephew, and one great-nephew.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday in the Chapel of Shorter Funeral Home with interment in Buckingham Community Cemetery.
