NOVEMBER 26 – On the morning of November 23, 2009, John Cornelius Brown passed away peacefully at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 10, 1946 in Buckingham County, the third child of nine born to the late Rev. James Cornelius and Deaconess Christine Fleming Brown. He was retired from MeadWestVaco.

He is survived by his devoted and beloved wife, Julia; son, Paul Brown; daughter, Paula Burton; grandchildren, Kaila Brown, Aaron Burton, and Lauren Burton; brothers, James Brown Jr., Freddie Brown, and Thomas Brown; sisters, Doris Glover, JoAnne Kimble and Lisa Brown; loving nieces, Jacqueline Glover, Charlotte White, Marvinette Palmer, Kristin Lee, and Kristina Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Brown.

Funeral services will be Saturday at noon at Dillwyn Elementary School with interment in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Arvonia.

Public viewing will be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Reid's Funeral Home.
