APRIL 6 – Janice A. Martin, 71, of Farmville, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at Holly Manor Nursing Home.
She and her husband of 50 years, Don L. Martin, were married April 3, 1953.
A 1950 graduate of Muncy High School, she worked as an usher at the Ritz Theater in Muncy, Pennsylvania before becoming an operator at the former West Branch Bell Telephone Co. Later she was a switchboard operator for the former Sprout-Waldron (now Andritz) In Muncy. She retired from the Southslde Community Hospital, Farmville, where she worked in outpatient registration.
She was a member of the Roland Ritter Post #268 American Legion Auxiliary, Muncy. She was baptized at St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Muncy.
Born October 3, 1932, in Hughesville, she was the daughter of Arl and Viola Kepner Evans.
In addition to her husband, Don, of Farmville, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Sharon Martin of Richmond and Jeff and Sandy Martin of Muncy;one daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Johnny Whitaker of Muncy; two sisters, Ida Gordner of Muncy and Sarah Opp of Picture Rocks, PA and six grandchildren, Thaddeus and Zachary Martin of Muncy, Kayla and Kevin Martin of Richmond and Amy and Carla Whitaker of Muncy.
A graveside service was held 11 a.m. Saturday in Muncy Cemetery.
