CARTERSVILLE, Sept. 9 -James T. Denton, 74, of Cartersville, died Saturday, September 4, 2004.

He is survived by two sons, Buddy Meadows and E. Ray Meadows; three daughters, Jean Beazley, Patsy Poyner and Mae Meadows; two brothers. Billy Denton and Walter Denton; four sisters, Louise Baber, Elizabeth Jones, Betty Lou Swan and Deana Morgan; 23 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; a devoted friend, Ruth Stockner and many friends in Cartersville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura A. Denton and one daughter, Ann Sykes.

A funeral service was held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bennett & Barden Funeral home, Powhatan, with interment in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Goochland.
