James E. Linthicum, 99

OCTOBER 16 – James Earl Linthicum, 99, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at the Ma-sonic Home of Virginia. He was born May 20, 1909 in Pittsylvania County near Climax, in the home of his late parents, James Kelly Linthicum and Luzena Bradner Linthicum.
He was married to Virgie Lone Smart of Patrick County from November 1934 until her death in July 1991. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carlton and Ivon Linthicum and a sister, Ethel Davidson.
He is survived by his two daughters, Algene L. Ashworth and husband, Charlie of Richmond, and Jane L. Bosley and husband, Bill, of Hamilton; a brother, Emmett Lacy Linthicum of Sacramento, CA and a sister, Claire Cobb of Reno, NV.
Earl worked for the Railway Express Agency in Lynchburg. He was a member of Lynchburg Hill City Lodge #183 and Scottish Rite for more than 50 years.
A funeral service will be held Friday, October 17, at 10 a.m. in the chapel at the Masonic Home. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Fort Hill Memorial Park, Lynchburg, with Masonic Rites at the graveside.
