James E. Hardiman, 75

BUMPASS, May 20 – James Elbert Hardiman, 75, of Bum-pass, returned to be with his Heavenly Father Sunday, May 18, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Sr. and Elizabeth Hardiman.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Pauline; and a son, Wayne Hardiman and wife, Kimberly; three grandchildren, Laurin and Hunter Hardiman and Brandon Lyon; brother, Howard Hardiman Jr. and wife, Linda; sisters, Dot McArthur, Fran Trentham, and Barbara Walters and husband, Richard; seven nephews, Ricky Chavis, David McArthur, Kevin McArthur, Howard III, Bobby, Mike, and Tim Hardiman; sisters-in-law, Helen Sheffield and Sandra Bosquet and husband, Tommy; and two nieces, Rhonda Chavis and Wendy DuRocher and husband, Ed, and their children, Madison and Hailey.

James retired after serving 27 years with the City of Rich-mond, Traffic Engineering Department. He served in the U.S. Army, 101st Air Borne Division, and was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church.

Services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mechanicsville, on Tuesday, May 20, at 1 p.m.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. at Spring Grove Memorial Park Cemetery, Mineral.

Bennett Funeral Home, Mechanicsville, served the family.
