January 20 – Jackie Wilson Spears, 51, entered peacefully into eternal life on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer, spending her last days at home surrounded by family and friends. Her bravery and uncomplaining perseverance were an inspiration to those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack W. Wilson and Margaret Wilson. Surviving are her husband, Raymond Spears, and one son, Eric Spears. She leaves to cherish her memory, three sisters, Karen Story and Judy Layne of Farmville, and Amy Beatson of Lynchburg; and a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She owned her own business cleaning houses and was an avid photographer. Jackie's kind, generous and compassionate nature touched the lives of a great many individuals and her presence will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held at Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 24, at 2 p.m. Private interment.
