ARVONIA, June 19 – Henry Melvin (Perk) Snoddy Sr., of Arvonia, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008. He was born April 10, 1922 in Buckingham County, the son of the late Asa P. Snoddy and Alice Bryant Snoddy.

He is survived by his wife, Ailene Wood Snoddy; four children, Hank Snoddy Jr. of Palmyra, David Snoddy of Monterey, Joan Shumaker of Dillwyn, and Lisa Melton of Bremo Bluff; sister, Louise Levitsky of West Point; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild due in the future.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Buckingham Baptist Church, Gold Hill, with interment in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Buckingham County Rescue Squad or Buckingham Baptist Church.
