Helen Eleanor Strandlund Jacobson Johnson

ORANGE, Aug. 12 – The Johnson family wishes to announce their beloved mother, Helen Eleanor Strandlund Jacobson Johnson, 97, of Orange, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 9, 2010, at the Dogwood Village of Orange. She lived by the grace of God and by the grace of God she passed away. She was born March 16, 1913 in Moline, Illinois, and was the daughter of the late Carl Gotthard Strandlund and Margrete Aslund Strandlund.

She is also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Frank L. Johnson, and two sons, Frank Crawford Johnson and Paul Arthur Johnson. She was raised by her uncle and aunt, Albert and Helen Jacobson in Brooklyn, NY.

She was a member of the North Pamunkey Baptist Church. During her life she taught Sunday School, was a pianist and organist, and was a member of the choir, and the WMU.

She is survived by a daughter, Karin J. Shiflett and husband, Reg of Cary, NC; seven sons, Frank Douglas Johnson and wife, Grace of Richmond, David Kenneth Johnson and wife, Rebecca of Charlottesville, Philip Quentin Johnson and wife, Joan of Griswold, CT, Clifford Allan Johnson and wife, Cheryl of Earlysville, Carl Gordon Johnson and wife, Patty of Orange, William Wallace Johnson and wife, Trish of Orange, and Donald Peter Johnson and wife, Cookie of Orange; 24 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 13, at 11 a.m. at the North Pamunkey Baptist Church, Lahore, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Keith Johnson will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 12, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Preddy Funeral Home, 250 West Main St., Orange, VA 22960.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dogwood Village of Orange, 120 Dogwood Lane, Orange, VA 22960.

The family wishes to extend our warmest heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Dogwood Village for treating our Mom like one of their own.
