RICE, Jan. 26 – Alma Jewel Norton, 81, of Rice, died Friday, January 22, 2010. Born October 15, 1928 in Prince Edward County, she was the daughter of George Haywood and Lizzie Dalton Norton.

She is survived by a twin brother, A. Cooke Norton and wife, Helen of Glen Allen and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, H.H Jr., John and Leo Norton and sisters, Mary, Blanche and Emily Norton.

She was a long-time member of Burkeville Baptist Church and recently attended Sharon Baptist Church in Rice.

Graveside funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 25 at Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Rice with the Rev. Clarence Davis officiating.
