Glenn Banton, Sr., 65 Of Scottsville Dies February 17

SCOTTSVILLE, Feb. 18 – Glenn Carlton Banton Sr., 65, of Scottsville, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at the University of Virginia Hospital. He was born on April 23, 1944, the son of the late Earl W. Banton and Susie S. Banton of Scottsville. He was preceded in death by his son, Glenn C. Banton Jr.
He was retired from VDOT, and Greenhorn & O'Mara, Inc., where he was a construction inspector. He was a lifetime member of the Buckingham County Rescue Squad and enjoyed hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his mother, he leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 35 years, Beulah Johnson Banton of Scottsville; brother, Raymond E. Banton and wife, Mona of Scottsville; three children, David L. Banton and wife, Donna, Angela C. Hunt and husband, Kenneth, and Terry M. Anderson and husband, Wayne, all of Dillwyn; nine grandchildren, J.T. Anderson, Samantha Banton, Joey Hunt, Rebecca Thomas, Brian Thomas, Casey Hunt, Heather Hunt, Anthony Banton and Amy Banton; niece, Stephanie L. Baird and husband, Brandon of Scottsville; nephew, Ray D. Ban-ton and wife, Monica of Dillwyn; great-niece, Ashley Smith; and two great-nephews, Cody Banton and Bryson Baird.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Dunkum Funeral Home, with interment at Sharon Baptist Church, Scottsville.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Piedmont.
