PENNSYLVANIA, July 16 – Geraldine E. Scudner, 85, of Lancaster, PA, died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, July 5, 2009. Geraldine was the mother and mother-in-law of Deirdre and William Westerhoff of Dillwyn. She was with her husband, Frank G. Scudner Jr., at the time of her death. They had been married for 66 years.

Geraldine Elizabeth Mary Moore was born in Queens, NY on March 21, 1924. She married Frank G. Scudner Jr., on April 10, 1943. After raising their five children in Bethlehem, PA, and Sag Harbor, NY, Geraldine and Frank retired to Elizabeth City, NC in 1985, where they lived for the next 20 years, before moving to Lancaster, PA, to be closer to family.

Geraldine enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, fishing and boating with her husband and family.

In addition to her loving husband, daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine is survived by her children, Judith O'Connell of Sag Harbor, NY, Frank G. Scudner, III and wife, Victoria of Womelsdorf, PA, Patricia Accettola of Chesapeake, and Peter Scudner and wife, Theresa of Lancaster, PA; 11 grandchildren, Jeffrey Luszcz and wife, Katie of San Francisco, CA, Alyson Luszcz of Stamford, CT, Brian Accettola of Florida, Amy Shannon and husband, Robert of Norfolk, Cara, Evan, and Amanda Scudner of Lancaster, PA, Sarah Westerhoff of Southampton, NY, Karl, Eric, and Benjamin Westerhoff of Dillwyn, and one great-grandchild, Rosa Luszcz.

A mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Lancaster, PA, on July 10. A private interment will follow at a later date.
